We are Gerard and Marianne Kluver.
Together we lead Dansschool Kluver and we give the dance lessons. Our dance school has a rich history. More than 65 years ago, Gerard’s mother, Cary Wennink, founded the dance school. Together with Gerard senior, she taught everyone the fine tricks of dancing for many years.
As a tribute, their plaque still adorns our façade. Who knows, your parents may have had lessons from them! About 25 years ago we took over the dance school from them. In these years we have developed a unique teaching system that allows us to teach everyone the ballroom and Latin American dancing quickly and effectively.
The dance school is located in a monumental Amsterdam building. The building houses two dance halls, a cozy bar and our private rooms.
The bar is open for quite some time before and after class. An excellent opportunity to get acquainted with fellow students while enjoying a snack and drink!
Gerard is fully FDO qualified (so both ballroom and latin teacher, trainer and coach) and “highly recommended” for the English exam. He is also authorized to train dance teachers. Of course he danced in the top of the Netherlands, in both ballroom and latin with amateurs and professionals.
Marianne also belonged to the top in the Netherlands in her
competition time, first as an amateur competition dancer and then
with Gerard among the professionals.
She now has extensive teaching experience and is praised for her
patience. In addition to her work at the dance school, she has a speech therapy practice and uses her didactic expertise to develop
dance lessons aimed at children.
